Solution

The Orienteering Victoria website was developed by Digital Thing with a custom-built responsive theme using WordPress, which offered an enhanced user experience across all devices. The website was designed to reflect the fun and excitement of participating in orienteering and grow interest in the sport. This included easy navigation to different events, orienteering clubs and information about how to get involved.

Digital Thing completely redeveloped the site architecture to improve the user experience. This included an Eventor integration to allow users to view and register for upcoming events along with viewing past event results. The new architecture also allowed non-technical staff to easily update the website with new information, events and results.

Outcome

The new website was a key component of Orienteering Victoria’s brand evolution and received overwhelmingly positive feedback from staff, orienteering clubs and participants. The enhanced user experience across all devices, including the ability to register for events, drove a substantial increase in participants for orienteering events.

Digital Thing optimised the website for search rankings and it quickly rose to the top of search rankings for orienteering. Staff were also pleased with how easy the site was to update and maintain. Digital Thing continues to work closely with Orienteering Victoria to enhance their online user experience and attract new interest in the sport online.
