Naught Distilling is an Australian dry gin distillery based in Melbourne. To coincide with the launch of its new gin distillery in Eltham, Naught Distilling engaged Digital Thing to develop a unique, animated website and online store. The website needed to distinguish Naught from other local distilleries and reflect the distinctive design of its flagship gin product to drive online sales and promote events. Digital Thing created a striking new website with a rich user experience that drove the successful launch of Naught and grew the brand throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Naught Distilling website was designed and developed by Digital Thing with a custom responsive theme using WordPress and WooCommerce. The unique website is brought to life by animated insects and bugs crawling across the screen, which are triggered by the user and adapted from the striking label design of Naught’s signature gin. An interactive live chat feature was also integrated to offer real-time customer service to users and customers.
Digital Thing developed an enhanced shopping cart to simplify the user experience and make it easy for customers to checkout quickly and securely using Stripe, Paypal and Apple Pay. The eCommerce platform was directly integrated with Australia Post, Naught’s preferred shipping provider, to make dispatching orders easy and efficient.
Despite launching during mid-2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in Victoria, Naught’s new website was an instant success. Users have loved the animations and interactivity of the site and eCommerce conversion rates have been extremely high. The Naught team have also welcomed the integration with Australia Post and easy-to-use backend, which is allowing them to easily manage order fulfilment, customer support and event enquiries.
Although event opportunities were initially limited due to COVID-19, Digital Thing’s striking website design and venue showcase helped drive significant interest in the venue and bookings for future events at the distillery.
